CHOOSE THE GAUGE — POST THICKNESS
• 18G (1.0mm) — Usually suitable if you normally wear standard fashion earrings, had your piercing done with a piercing gun or machine, or prefer a thinner post.
• 16G (1.2mm) — Usually suitable if your piercing was professionally done with a needle using 16G jewelry, or you currently wear a 1.2mm post.
These are general guidelines. Whenever possible, match the thickness of your current jewelry. Do not force the post if you feel strong resistance, pain or bleeding.
CHOOSE THE LENGTH
• 6mm — For a snugger fit
• 8mm — For more room or thicker tissue
FOR A FRESH PIERCING
Fresh piercings usually need a longer post to allow room for swelling. Between these two sizes, 8mm provides more room than 6mm, but the correct length depends on the piercing location, swelling and your anatomy.

The 'fire' of the stone is bright, and although it I 6mm, it doesn't drop forward like my other similar stud. I think it is because of the base holding the stone and the metal. Very happy with the quality of both the base metal and the stone.
