Key

Initial Healing = When you can come in for a downsize (shorter post length)

Full Healing = Tissue is fully healed and you can freely change jewelry

Difficulty = Healing difficulty and aftercare complexity

Core Aftercare Principles

1. Start with High-Quality Jewelry

All Callsoul starter jewelry is hypoallergenic, high-quality, and made from F136 implant-grade titanium. This is the foundation for safe healing.

2. Keep Up with Cleaning and Check-Ins

Regular cleaning and timely visits to Callsoul for check-ups and downsizing are essential for the best results.

Initial healing period (2–4 months): Come in for a downsize

Before full healing: Schedule periodic check-ups on your piercing

If issues arise: Address any healing concerns promptly

Recommended Cleaning Routine

Cleaning Frequency

First 2–4 weeks: 1–2 times per day

After that: Once per day until fully healed

Cleaning Steps

Step 1: Wash Your Hands

Thoroughly wash your hands with warm water before touching your piercing.

Step 2: Choose Your Cleaning Solution

Callsoul recommends sterile saline wound wash (0.9% sodium chloride, no additives). This is the same product recommended by the Association of Professional Piercers (APP). Do not mix your own salt solution.

Step 3: Clean the Piercing

Spray the saline solution directly onto the front and back of the piercing. If needed, use a piece of clean non-woven gauze to gently wipe away any discharge around the piercing site.

Step 4: Rinse

Gently rinse with warm water to remove any saline residue.

Step 5: Dry Completely

This is the most important step. Use a hair dryer on the cool setting to thoroughly dry the piercing area. Moisture promotes bacteria growth, so complete drying is essential.

Aftercare Do’s

Daily Care

Wash hands with warm water before every contact with your piercing.

Use Callsoul’s recommended sterile saline solution for cleaning.

Dry the piercing area thoroughly with a cool-setting hair dryer.

Change your bedsheets and pillowcases regularly.

Wear clean, loose-fitting clothing.

Sleep Care

Use a travel (U-shaped or donut) pillow to avoid pressure on the piercing.

Avoid sleeping on the side of your new piercing.

Make sure the piercing is completely dry before going to bed.

Wash your hair regularly to keep oils and products away from the piercing.

Follow-Up Visits

Return to Callsoul for a downsize during the initial healing period (2–4 months).

Schedule periodic check-ups on your piercing’s condition.

Address any concerns promptly.

Aftercare Don’ts

Cleaning

✕  Do not rotate or twist your jewelry.

✕  Do not use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or Neosporin.

✕  Do not use cotton balls — fibers can get caught on the jewelry.

✕  Do not over-clean the piercing.

✕  Do not dry with a cloth towel (use a hair dryer on cool or disposable non-woven gauze).

Contact

✕  Do not touch the piercing with unwashed hands.

✕  Do not let others touch your piercing.

✕  Do not apply makeup or skincare products near the piercing.

✕  Do not let hair products come into contact with the piercing.

Sleep

✕  Do not sleep on the side of a healing piercing.

✕  Do not go to bed with wet hair.

Water and Activities

✕  Avoid submerging an unhealed piercing in water for extended periods (e.g., swimming pools, hot tubs, baths).

Jewelry

✕  Do not remove jewelry during the healing period.

✕  Do not switch to heavy jewelry before fully healed.

✕  Do not wear jewelry containing nickel.

✕  Do not wear low-quality jewelry.

What’s Normal During Healing

First Week

Minor bleeding, localized swelling, tenderness or mild pain, slight bruising, and clear fluid discharge are all normal in the first few days after a piercing.

Throughout the Healing Process

Itching, dried discharge forming light crust around the jewelry, and minor buildup around the piercing site are normal and expected.

Important: Do not pick at or remove any crust. Let it come off naturally during cleaning.

When to Contact Callsoul

•  Increasing swelling

•  Yellow or green discharge

•  Unpleasant odor
